• A day with Samanthia and Peter George.
• Pumpkin soup with cow roof cooked in it

Today we had a very fun day out with Peter and Samanthia. Peter is the one that has had a stroke and about the only thing he can say is why why why, yes yes yes. Their life is a little hard so we call them occasionally and go for our ride. Today we went to the middle and east side of the island to the ocean. There are no oiled roads that go there. The sea is really rough on that side and the wind is always blowing. 

First, they took us to the farmland on the island. That was very interesting. They grow a variety of things like cucumbers, pumpkins, watermelons, cantaloupe tomatoes, and a bunch of Island stuff. We drove by some workers that knew Peter and they gave us a bag of cucumbers. 

We finally found the road to the ocean. It was a real beater dirt road but we enjoyed it . Luckily we had a four-wheel drive and needed it in a few spots. We finally got to the ocean and the waves were really crashing in. Samanthia and their little boy who is probably about Three or four went for a walk way down the beach. Tina went for a walk. Opposite direction way up the beach. Supposedly it's supposed to be a turtle watching area. We saw where they had dug holes but we didn't see any turtles. With the wind blowing like it was off the ocean it made for a nice cool day to be down there. Why we were there? We got a long stick and we're knocking coconuts out of the tree and loading them in the truck. 

After a while we had lunch. Tina and I actually didn't bring lunch and I don't know why. But Samanthia and Peter did. It was pumpkin soup with cow hoof cooked in it. The soup wasn't too bad but the cow hoof meat meat was a little different tasting more like fat than meat. Samantha kept asking me if I wanted more meat. To be polite I kept taking it. Why we were there. A couple of guys come by and they were gathering coconuts to take to town to sell. Samanthia ask one of them if he would cut one open so we could get a drink. He came back with his knife or machete and cut the tops off two or three of them so we could drink the coconut water. It is okay. 

Samanthia had to be to work by 4:00 so we had to hurry home. It was getting late. We dropped them off at their house and she asked us if we would give her a ride downtown. They live way up in the mountain. We told her we would just take her to work. She was planning on going down by our house and catching a bus. We dropped her off and came home and had dinner and pretty much just relax the rest of the evening. It was a good day.

I have to say the people here are usually very nice. But if you have local Lucians they are really nice and will do about anything for you.
